Three-day cross-border cycle tour
Viersen
The Niers Cycle Route takes you along the banks of the river Niers through the Lower Rhine region to Gennep in the Netherlands, where the Niers flows into the Maas. Enjoy the Lower Rhine landscape on the approximately one hundred kilometre long cycle path.
The starting point of your cycle tour is the beautiful flower town of Straelen.
On the way, make a detour to the pilgrimage town of Kevelaer. With its magnificent St. Mary’s Basilica and the famous Chapel of Grace, Kevelaer is one of the most important Marian pilgrimage sites in Germany. The new St. Jakob saltwater garden with its graduation house offers the perfect environment to unwind and leave everyday life behind for a while.
In Goch, the birthplace of the Steyl missionary Arnold Janssen awaits you. The signposted city walk takes you through the centre of Goch in the footsteps of St. Arnold Janssen.
From Goch in the direction of Arcen, you cycle along the Meuse and through De Maasduinen National Park with its extensive moorland and heathland.
A visit to the castle gardens in Arcen is worthwhile.
