In the footsteps of the Boxteler Bahn
WeselTravel back in time, experience the heyday of the railway history and take a ride on the tracks of the “Boxteler Bahn”. The cycle route “Boxteler Bahn” – in the Netherlands you say “Duits Lijnje” leads 155 kilometers (96 miles) along the historical railway, starting in Wesel and ending in Boxtel, Netherlands. Since 1873 and still in the 20th century this route was a significant part of the east-west-connection between London, Berlin and St. Petersburg. The royal houses in Europe as well as the Tsar family were using this connection which shows its great importance. You can find information boards all along the road. We recommend bringing enough time. The route is at least a day trip and is suitable for nature and railway enthusiasts and those who are interested in culture and history.
