3 day radial tour
Take a journey through time by bicycle – almost 2,000 years into the past. In addition to the Lower Rhine, the Roman legionnaires also lived between Xanten and Nijmegen. Since then, Xanten and the Dutch city of Nijmegen have been connected by the Limesweg.
Back then, Roman soldiers marched for two days in strict formation to get from one city to the other. Today, you have three days to experience the Via Romana by bicycle. Nevertheless, the tour also allows you to take a few breathers along the way.
Discover Kalkar, the medieval town with its mill, the Church of St. Nicolai and the world famous carved altars.
Add to this all the spots where you can find traces of Roman history. Take some time to visit the LVR – Archäologischen Parks and the LVR-RömerMuseums. You will be astonished at everything that has been preserved from this period.
