Dive into this hike along the exceptionally multifaceted partial stage of Jakobsweg 4. The point of departure is Kleve. In the heart of Kleve, the imposing Schwanenburg sits enthroned, welcoming its guests from afar with its mighty silhouette. The impressive Museum Kurhaus Kleve invites you to get in the mood for your hike with modern and contemporary art.
The next day takes you through numerous little towns to Kalkar. On your way, you should plan a visit to the impressive Schloss Moyland in Bedburg-Hau. Leave your everyday life behind as you hike and enjoy the idyllic surroundings. Along the way, you can “Rheinaue erleben”. In the historic municipality of Kalkar, the best way to end the day is at one of the many restaurants on the historic marketplace with a view of the imposing Gerichtslinde (court linden) and the historic Town Hall.
As you make your way to the legendary Roman town of Xanten , among others you hike through the small town of Appeldorn with the grand Burg Boetzelaer. Xantener Südsee, a beautiful corner of the earth, offers a place to take a rest. The nearby LVR-Archäologische Park Xanten sends culture lovers back to long forgotten times and brings the Romans to life again. Listen closely in the medieval town centre with its historical buildings, perhaps you will hear the marching of Roman troops…
In the former customs and fortress town of Rheinberg, you can finish off the last evening of your trip wonderfully before making the journey home the next day.
