Water is the decisive element along the 3-Flüsse Route – and you would expect nothing else with this name. The tour is practically predestined for all nature lovers, leading discerning cyclists along the Rheins, the Issel and the Lippe through a broad section of the Niederrheins.
The element of water is encountered at every turn, for example as the driving force for historical mills (Benninghoff water mill in Schermbeck or the water mill at the moated castle in Gartrop).
There are many opportunities to enjoy the refreshing waters along the entire route – for example on a boat tour on the paddle steamer the River Lady, which is the only one on the Rhine, on a canoe tour on the Lippe or by visiting the Rhine baths in Wesel.
The route also has some cultural opportunities to offer. How about a detour to visit the Pankok Museum Haus Esselt? This was where the painter, graphic artist and sculptor Otto Pankok lived and worked. For Otto Pankok, the landscape was a lifelong theme. He captured numerous motifs around Haus Esselt in charcoal drawings. Today, visitors can be creative too with the landscape rucksack and follow the traces of Otto Pankoks on foot. The landscape rucksack contains painting utensils and various tasks for all ages. With the landscape rucksack, a visit to the Otto Pankok Museum becomes an exciting artistic experience. The finished work can of course be taken home as a souvenir.
The 3-Flüsse Route offers you an excellently signposted network of routes and provides just the right attraction for all water lovers.
